About Essential Service Industries

Built by people who have carried the outcome.

ESI was created by a founder who had spent more than 25 years forming, scaling and exiting consumer businesses—and knew exactly what was missing when growth began to outrun the company built around it.

Why ESI exists

Growth exposes every weak connection.

Across food, beverage, wellness, technology and regulated alternative categories, I have worked from early company formation through national distribution and liquidity events. The hardest moments were rarely caused by a lack of ambition, product quality or demand.

They came when product, packaging, compliance, operations, distributors, retailers and capital began moving on different clocks. A brand could be winning in the market while the business behind it was becoming harder to control. Founders were surrounded by advisors and specialists, yet still left to connect every consequential decision themselves.

I built ESI because growth does not need another opinion. It needs an experienced operator willing to own the connections.

That is the role we accept. ESI works beside leadership to build the commercial and operating foundation around real demand—then stays close as strategy meets manufacturing, fulfillment, distribution, retail and the customer. We engage selectively because the objective is not activity. It is disciplined growth, stronger enterprise value and a business built for a successful outcome.

Why this team

Three careers. One view of the business.

ESI took shape around a hard-earned realization: no single discipline can carry a consumer business through scale. The founder’s decisions, the consumer expression and the realities of the retail floor have to meet before execution begins.

Founder · operator · integrator

Ross J. Newman

More than 25 years spanning company formation, national distribution, operating infrastructure and exits—especially where regulation, channel complexity and execution risk demand senior judgment.

Creative · packaging · retail experience

Lauren Newman

Two decades shaped in luxury, fashion, specialty retail and public relations—including Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Foot Locker, Champs Sports and Glamour—connecting brand expression to packaging, merchandising, vendors and rollout.

Retail · distribution · market access

Michael Murphy

More than 20 years from store operations and multi-unit management to enterprise leadership of 500-plus employees and work with Altria, Coca-Cola and Pepsi—grounding growth in what buyers, distributors and stores will support.

What that experience became

An operating partner—not advice at a distance.

ESI embeds senior leadership where strategic choices become operating consequences. We enter selectively, tell the truth early and stay close enough to make the work hold together.

We see the whole enterprise.

Brand, margin, operations, compliance, distribution and retail are not separate conversations. ESI keeps the complete consequence of a decision visible.

Senior people own the work.

The leaders trusted to frame the work remain present as it moves. Judgment is not used to win the engagement and then handed away.

Commercial reality decides.

Creative ambition and growth strategy must survive production, unit economics, the buyer’s expectations and the daily realities of the store.

We build beyond the launch.

The objective is a stronger, more defensible business: infrastructure that can support demand, disciplined scale and long-term strategic optionality.
